Who am I?

I was born in Edmonton and moved to Calgary when I was 12. I moved to Cochrane in 2020 to be closer to my children and grandchildren.

I’ve worked over 40 years in the Oil and Gas industry as an Accounting professional.

I’m a Wife, a Mother and a Grandmother.

My vision for Cochrane is for sustainable and responsible growth. We’ve had runaway development over the past ten plus years, we need to slow things down until our infrastructure can catch up. Then set a responsible rate of growth that the Town of Cochrane administration can keep up with.

What type of development do we want? I don’t think stacking as many people into a community as possible is the way to develop our communities. We need affordable housing but we need to preserve our existing development structure as to not lower property values for existing home owners.

Having a Town Council that works for the people. We’ve seen elected officials at all levels of government that seem to do whatever they want with no accountability. I’d like to change that starting at the municipal level. I want to hear about what’s important to you and your family. I propose more accountability and support more community involvement in decisions by the people.

We need to take better care of our natural green spaces and our wetlands. We have a beautiful river valley that I’d like to see preserved for future generations. Limit development in sensitive area’s.

I want to preserve our Western Heritage. We have a lovely quaint downtown and I want to make sure we preserve that culture in everything we do, especially when it comes to development. Let’s keep our small town charm as much as possible. Even as we grow.

Some of our Bylaws could use updating, drones comes to mind. I’ve seen a lot of complaints on social media of people flying drones over our back yards, hovering and '“spying” on citizens trying to enjoy their backyards. It might be time to update our Bylaws that flying a drone isn’t permitted over Cochrane town limits without a specific permit, an appropriate example would be photo’s for real-estate advertising. Tell me what else you’d like to see change.

We need some Financial Accountability, I’ve worked in Finance my entire career. I’ve always believed in taking care of my employers money like it was my own. The Town of Cochrane is collecting significant tax dollars each year. Is administration spending those funds wisely? We see tax hikes each year but do we see where that money is going. We need to improve our roads and other infrastructure. How can we do that without raising taxes? All town employees work for you the tax payer and they should be respecting those tax dollars. I proposed more transparency on how those tax dollars are spent.

Transportation is also a key issue for me. We have a lot of youth in our communities. How are those youth going to get to University or SAIT. We need to develop our bus services, setting fixed routes is a start but we can do better. We should have a dedicated route to the Tuscany LRT Station during peak times at the very least. This would help everyone that needs to commute to Calgary daily.

I want Cochrane to have safe communities, lower taxes, sustainable growth and develop into a Cochrane my Grandchildren can grow up in and thrive in. Perhaps raise their own families here one day. We need to take care of our seniors and have places for them to feel supported. Access to education and health care when we need it.

I want to be the change I’d like to see which is why I’m running for Councillor in the Town of Cochrane in our next election October 2025. My greatest desire is to be a voice for those that don’t have one. I’m here to listen to you and be your voice on council.

I hope you’ll entrust me with your vote.
